Secret Message Video Share

I'm so glad that you stopped by today because I have something really fun to share with you.
It's this card...well actually it's the technique for this card which I love! I call it the Secret Message Fold (because I have no idea what it's really called). You can use this technique to add a hidden sentiment or picture or ?? At first glance it looks like a typical gatefold card, but when it's folded at the center, you can pull the centers apart and it opens to another hidden section of the card. Warning: Opening and shutting it is a little addicting.
I'm excited to share this technique with you in my How-To video below.

I hope you have fun trying this out for yourself.

This is great!! I haven't created any new cards in such a long time due to boxing up my supplies for a renovation that was supposed to have started months ago. We've since put the plans on hold and I'm getting the itch to start to create again. You're giving me a push in the right direction!! :)

Oh...Wendy. Wow, all your fun stuff is packed up? Well, this is definitely a fun technique and great reason to get your stuff unpacked :-)

What a fun technique! Like many of them it looks like it would be a lot harder to create than it is. Can you decorate the side panels of the inside of the card while it's closed or will it interfere with the mechanism?

I might just have to do this as my shoebox project for the next gathering I am going to in the fall.

Thanks so much for sharing your vid!.

Hi Melissa,

This card really isn't that hard. This was one of the cards I taught in my class this month and everyone did a great job. I did do the cutting for the center panel ahead of time, just because of the class time restraint, but everyone's cards went together well.

As far as decorating the side panels, as long as whatever you decorate with doesn't end up beyond the foldlines or into the slit areas, it should be fine. I thought about doing more deocrating, but I knew the card was already going to take a bit of time and tried to keep the inside simple.

HTH :-)
