Blast From the Past

From Heidi…
A couple of years ago, our stamping friend, Norma, hosted a workshop at her house and this was one of the cards that we made that night. I loved this card! I loved the color combination and the layout. I came across this card a few weeks ago and thought it would be fun to use the layout and idea, but update it with new colors, stamps and ribbon. So, here’s what I came up with.
Isn't this new Four Frame stamp set cute?
...and it fits the new Decorative Label Punch that's in the Occasions Mini catalog. The good news is that this stamp set and coordinating punch are both going to be included in the new 2011-2012 Idea Book and Catalog. Stampin' Up will be offering a special promotion for this Four Frames stamp set beginning April 1. To learn more about this special offer, please check out our upcoming April Newsletter or Blog.  We hope that you're having a great Saturday!

Oriental Thank You Tags

From Heidi…
Here’s this month’s “Thank You” tags I made for our stamping friends. One of our friends has been creating some Oriental-themed cards (you can view her cards in our upcoming April Newsletter), which became my inspiration for the tags this month. I chose the colors based on my card stock scraps: River Rock, Early Espresso, Poppy Parade. The Lattice Bigz die made the perfect background, and then all that was needed was just a little sentiment. I used the sentiment from Tiny Tags and punched it out with the ¾” circle punch and added the Itty Bitty 4-petal punch in Early Espresso with a dot of White Gel pen to finish it off.
Thanks to all of you who stamp with us. We appreciate you all!

Color Inkspiration Challenge

From Heidi…
Woohoo!! I was able to get in on another Inkspiration Challenge, which this week is a Color Challenge. It’s an interesting color combination…probably not one I would’ve used myself, but that’s what makes it a challenge, right?
My card uses a little bit of this and a little bit of that. First, I saw a fellow SU demo who had cut the Scallop Circle punch piece diagonally towards the center to create this fun-looking flower, then Adriel’s been working on a card using the Elegant Lines EB folder, and last but not least…last week’s challenge winner used the folded DSP which looked fun, too. So these are the little bits that I combined together to create my challenge card this week.

So glad that you could stop by and visit us!

What's for Dinner?

Create this stylish write-on/write-off Menu Board with us this coming Tuesday (3/22) at Tumbleweed Rec Center (316TW.331 - 12:30 PM; 317TW.331 - 7 PM), and you'll have the daily question of, "What's for Dinner?" already answered. And hey, if you're like me, I'm usually the one asking the question... and I'm the one making dinner! This is definitely the answer for me :-) We'll also be creating a Covered Purse-Size Notepad, which is great for menu planning, notes, or shopping list. If you're one of the lucky ones and aren't meal-planning challenged, you can make these to give away, they make great gifts! You can register for classes online with the City of Chandler using the one of the class codes above.

Adriel created and designed this fun project using the Elegant Soiree DSP and some digital elements using My Digital Studio.  Way to go, Adriel! Since I haven't made one of these yet, I'm looking forward to next week's class :-)

On another note, I can't wait to publish our April Newsletter. We hit the jackpot this month with our stamping friend's card submissions. We have some gorgeous cards to share this month...can't wait for you to see what they've been up to, so be sure to check back at the first of April to view our newsletter.

We appreciate you taking time to stop by...have a wonderful day!!

Inkspiration Challenge

From Heidi...
I made this card for this week's Inkspiration Sketch Challenge. This was a great card sketch..although after I went back and looked at the sketch, I realized that I didn't really follow the sketch exactly. Oh well, next time!

For this card I used the Inlaid Embossing technique (which I think I'm stuck on right now, but I think it's such a cool way to make textured paper), to create this masculine themed card. I also used the stamp set Word Play using "Wish Big." I really love this little sentiment...and for fun, I added a red rhinestone bling to the star. Thanks for taking time to visit!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Not Quite Navy, Riding Hood Red, Whisper White
DSP: Digital Riding Hood Red Grid design
Ink: Soft Suede, Marina Mist, Riding Hood Red
 Stamp Set: Word Play
Accessories: Big Shot (Square Lattice Textured Impression Folder, Scallop Circle #2 Bigz Die); Punches (2-1/2" circle, 2" circle, 1-3/4" circle; Corner Rounder); Crimper, Paper Piercer, Jewels-Rhinestone (colored red with permanent marker), sponge

Another Acetate Card

From Heidi...
Working with acetate has been a fun change. We finished our Acetate Technique class at Tumbleweed Recreation Center this week and everyone did such a great job. It's definitely a different medium to work with and it has it's challenges, but it creates such a beautiful card.

We're offering our Acetate Technique class again on Tuesday, 3/15 at my house, so if you're looking for something different and fun to do with your card making, why don't you join us? We're offering 3 classes: 10AM-Noon (1 spot available); 1:30-3:30 PM (3 spots available); 7-9 PM (2 spots available). Email me at - heiditek@cox.net if you'd like to join us.

Acetate Embellishment

From Heidi...
In our card class this month we'll be showing you 3 different Acetate Techniques. One of the techniques will focus on embellishments for cards or scrapbooking. If you've been out shopping for scrapbook embellishments, you know they can be kind of pricey, especially for the acrylic ones. So I thought this would be a great  project to add to our card class this month.

If you live in the area, we're offering classes at the Tumbleweed Recreation Center on Tuesday, March 8 (310TW.331- 10 AM;  311TW.331 - 7 PM  ) and then again at my house the following Tuesday, March 15 (10 AM - Noon; 1:30 PM-3:30 PM; and 7-9 PM). Contact Heidi for more information or visit her calendar for more information. If you don't live nearby or you simply can't make the class, we'll be offering PDF instructional tutorials in a few weeks, so check back with us soon.

Here you can see how I've used the acrylic embellishment on a simple little "Hello" card. It's a quick add-on that makes a simple card look special.
Thanks for stopping by!

Newsletter and Craftroom Video

We've published our March Newsletter and can't wait to share with you this month's fun "How-To" video that coincides with our newsletter's Craftroom article. This month's Craftroom share is how to do the Inlaid Embossing. This technique is super easy and makes some very cool paper...so be sure to check it out. Our newsletter also lists our upcoming classes with time, dates and registration information.

I'm excited about this month's classes (well, I'm excited every month), but this month we're making acetate cards using three different techniques, and they're just plain fun to make. Plus our Project class this month is SO cool. Adriel designed this month's project which is a write-on/wipe-off decorative Menu Board. We also added a purse-size decorative covered notepad to use as a shopping or menu notepad.

Thanks for visiting us and seeing what we're up to. We'd love to have you join us for any of our classes. We've got a great group of stamping friends that make everyone who joins us feel welcome.
