I have been using my Christmas break to look at different "how to" blogs and having a bunch of fun! There is so much inspiration out there...I just need more time!! I came across a fun tutorial on how to make your own paper buttons. (Sorry, I will have to go back and find the blog that has the tutorial so that I can pass it on.) I tried it out and made this Valentine card with a layout I used for a Christmas card I made.

I made a smaller sized card for this set, at 3-1/2"W x 5"H. They are basically note card size. I used the fabulous Medallion stamp from Stampin' Up! in white craft ink on Kraft CS. Had to let it dry (unless you emboss it, it takes quite a while to dry). Since I was making a set, I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig to get the image in the same place on each card. Spritzed the whole card front using the Color Spritzer tool and a Chocolate Chip marker... very lightly spritzed... I did a couple at first that were too heavily done and it didn't look very good. Added an 1/8" Old Olive cardstock strip for a pop of color and interest and stamped the cute "thank you" from the All Occasions set in Chocolate Chip ink. Done!
These won't be going in our Etsy shop at the moment because they already sold, but I'm thinking about making another set... we'll see. ;-)
My granddaughter, Kayla, was over one day and I showed her this technique which she quickly took to and she made the long pink chain of ribbon. As she was weaving the ribbon she was thinking of all the ways she could use this chain of ribbon.
One thought she had was to use it as a hair embellishment, so we picked up some plastic headbands and finished the ends of the ribbon chain and hot-glued the ribbon chain to the headband. It came out so nice, and Kayla did such a great job keeping her weave tension even.
Another idea of Kayla's is to use it as a belt, so that will be our next ribbon weave project. I just received JoAnn's advertisement and the good news is that they're having a 50% off sale on all their ribbon next week...you know what we'll be busy doing! Thanks for looking and Merry Christmas!!

We hope you're enjoying the fun things that make this time of the year special to you, even if it's just sitting on the couch! Whatever makes it special, enjoy yourself and if we don't pop in here before the 25th, have a Merry Christmas!
Having just celebrated Thanksgiving and everything Fall, here's a look back at Fall with our Fall Plate Face...or it's a peek forward towards next year's Fall season.

I used the fun image from Wow Flowers on this... I really like that set and don't use it nearly as much as I should! Taken w/ Teal and Ruby Red are the colors for this placecard.

The placecards measure 3-5/8" x 4" and are scored @ 2" for a tent-style placecard. Sometimes smaller scale is fun to work with. When you've done a lot of cards, working with something smaller can be a great creative break! =)
Here's a cute snowman (I'm sorry that my picture is blurry) from the Snow Buddies stamp set which I filled in by brushing on Crystal Effects mixed with Dazzling Diamond glitter. I watercolored the rest of him (scarf, hat, and nose). I used Certainly Celery, Always Artichoke, Ruby Red, and Whisper White. He sure looks happy! I saw this cute card layout from another blogger's site (sorry, I don't know who you are!) She used SU's Hostess stamp set using the pea for the snowman... it was too cute! Thanks for stopping by...and if we don't get another blog posted before Thanksgiving, we hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Where does the time go? Wow...it's been awhile since I've posted something here on our blog. I keep meaning to get my Christmas cards posted, but there's always just "one more thing" that seems to take presidence! I'm glad that there's two of us...I'm sure our blog site is glad that there's two of us, otherwise it might feel more neglected than it already does. But anyway...here's a Christmas card I wanted to share. I love this layout using two different coordinating DS papers, which I saw used on another card. The DS paper is Holiday Lounge, Stamp Set: Snow Buddies (stocking). I used Crystal Effects to create an icicle border which I placed on the top of the Whisper White CS. After watercoloring the stockings, I filled them in with Crystal Effects to make them pop out. This was a fun card to make! I had fun creating all the little details
Patterned Pines, the new hostess set we recently earned, made fun little trees for this card. I inked them up individually and cut them out. I dimensioned the trees over an Old Olive strip that I did some faux stitching on... okay, not my strength. I need some practice on faux stitching and getting the stitches even. (Kristina Werner makes it look terribly easy!)
Had fun, enjoyed myself and made something new! =)

The inside is complete with dividers and tabs for a variety of foods. Most of the tabs have been hand-stamped with images from "From the Kitchen of" stamp set. Two of the images my mom threw together on her computer using word and they worked out great. The images have all been water colored using the blender pen and ink technique.
