American Heritage Girl Card Making Event

I had the privilege of sharing with 24 girls from the Gilbert American Heritage Girls troop about papercrafting. What a fun, polite and enthusiastic group of girls!

They each stamped, punched and embossed to create the card below.
A big thank you to all the girls and the leaders for inviting me to share with all of you!

Hello Kitty Punch Art

...and some changes. I'll share the Hello Kitty card first, which I made for my youngest granddaughter's birthday, who is a spunky little thing. I used punches and lots of black Sharpie marker to create this card. (I have to say that the fumes from the Sharpie got a little strong at times!!!)
This card took a little while to make, but I enjoyed the challenge of figuring out how to get an evenly black outline around all the punched pieces and then how to create all the parts for the Hello Kitty. The eyes and nose took some trial and error. I finally ended up using a few ovals from a rocket in the Sizzix Sizzlit Boy Set, because there was no way I could have drawn in the two oval eyes to look  the same. The paws, ears, and bow were all made from the Small Heart punch, with the tips of the hearts cut off to create the paws and the arches of the hearts cut off to create the ears. I've included the supply list at the end of this post.
So now onto some changes...Most of my Stampin' Up! customers know that I am terminating my Stampin' Up! demonstratorship. I have thoroughly enjoyed my season as a demonstrator over the last 8 years, but with my family obligations requiring more of my time, I am unable to keep my business running and to care for my family as well I would like to.
With my termination came an unexpected surprise. One of my Stamp Club members, Amy Hooks, has decided to become a Stampin’ Up Demonstrator. (Yay, Amy!!) She will continue to serve our Stamp Club and anyone else who would like to place an order. If you live locally and are interested in information about her club or placing orders, you can visit her Stampin' Up! website here.
Since Amy has taken over the SU part of my business, I've been thinking that it might be feasible for me to offer a class or two later in the year, which is the part of my business I miss the most and really enjoyed. We’ll see! I'll keep you all posted. Until then I'll just keep sharing my cards here with you on my blog and hope that you'll keep visiting.
Thanks for stopping by!

Baby Elephants

The inspiration for this cute baby boy card came from a sweet card Kim S. made using elephants. I used her three elephant idea which I created using My Digital Studio's Nursery Necessities stamp set, and stamped the "Hello Baby" sentiment from the Sweet Essentials stamp set.
I love hybrid cards because the printer produces rich evenly stamped images, as seen
 in the elephants above.
The color combination in the Sweet Sorbet DSP has a nursery look and works well for a baby boy or girl card. I pulled out SU's retired star punches to make an embellishment for the upper section of the card.

So glad that you stopped by!

Vellum Thank You

Today I'm sharing a card that was inspired from a couple of different people. The Frosted Embossing technique I used on the vellum came from one of Amanda Burditt's cards. She has a video showing you the technique on her blog, if you'd like to try it out for yourself. The floral design was inspired by I'm in Haven's cute card.
I used a thick vellum and found that I got a better frosted look by rubbing in a circular motion. I used my Simply Scored scoring tool to make the lined border.

I pulled out a couple of retired items, the stamp set "One of a Kind" for the flowers to use with my Boho Blossom punch and the retired Elegant Bouquet EB folder. A couple of Little Leaves sizzlits cut apart make up the green garland frame. I love trying new techniques, and this one was fun and simple. Ink used is Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral and black Stazon for sentiment.

Thanks for visiting! Have a great day :-)

So Very Grateful Baby Card

Today I'm sharing a baby card which was inspired by Lin Brandyberry's card. This is my first time using the So Very Grateful stamp set, which I thought was so cute when I first saw it.

The colors in the Sweet Sorbet DSP were perfect for this little girl baby card. I fussy cut the floral images and then cut apart one of the floral images so that I had the floral thing going along the topside of the white scalloped border.
This is a fun stamp set to watercolor.

Thanks for stopping by and having a look!

Hearts A Flutter Valentine

....................................................

This is my husband's favorite Valentine this year. He likes cards with green leaves in them...remember my Mosaic Christmas Ornament card from last year and his suggestion to add the green leaves? This time I thought I'd beat him to the punch and added green leaves to the hearts, which he really liked :-)
I used the rectangular Designer Frames embossing folder to frame the stamped heart from the Hearts A Flutter stamp set. This is another "my style" more traditional Valentine card.
See you next time!

Adorning Accent Valentine

CLICK ON LINKS BELOW TO VIEW:

....................................................

Today's Valentine is more along the traditional lines...which is more my personal taste for Valentine's. I have been trying to stretch myself to include styles and trends that aren't necessarily my favorite, but are fun nonetheless, which is how I came up with my last post's You & Me Valentine.
I love the soft lines of the Adorning Accent framelit and Adorning Accent edgelit together. I added the negative punched heart to allow the pretty Fresh Prints DSP to stand out against the white cardstock.
Hope that you're having a wonderful day!

You & Me Chevron

....................................................

I'm sharing my first Valentine for 2014, which was made in December for my January card class, which now seems like a long time ago. I thought I'd better start posting my Valentine's on my blog before Valentine's Day has already come and gone. I'll start with the trendy one first.
I used the new Perfect Pennants stamp set from the Occasion catalog for the stamped "You & Me" sentiment and added a Chevron punched border strip to place the stamped heart on.
Thanks so much for looking!

Countless Sayings Stamp Set

CLICK ON LINKS BELOW TO VIEW:
....................................................

I've been resistant in trying out the photopolymer stamp sets because of past experience with other brands. I didn't like the blotchy stamped images they produced, but after the Countless Sayings set came out I thought I'd give Stampin' Up's photopolymer's a try. I was pleasantly surprised at how well they inked up and stamped, and now I'm sold. This stamp set is what sold me...it's a fun stamp set and I love that it's not just for Valentine's or birthdays. With all the little words included you can come up with a lot of sayings. I guess that's why the name of the set is "Countless Sayings".
This card could easily be a Valentine card, although I made it for my granddaughter's birthday who just turned 13!!! I can't believe how quickly time has flown by. She is just as sweet today as she was when she was younger. She is a joy to all of us!

Have a wonderful weekend!

This is a card I made for a little girl from our church who had surgery and am happy to say that she's doing very well. I case'd the card design and punch art cat from Debbie Henderson, changing out the colors to pinks and brown. You can visit her blog to get all the how-to's.

I hope that you're having a great day!

Vellum Secret Garden

Trying out another color combination (Basic Gray, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding) using the Secret Garden and Sweet Essentials stamp sets.
I stamped the flowers in Basic Black on vellum, cutting them out using the Secret Garden framelits. I colored the backs of the flowers using Daffodil Delight and Calypso Coral and then cut coordinating Whisper White flowers behind the vellum, trimming them shorter than the vellum. I added white accents around edges of the flowers, leaves and Crisp Cantaloupe Fancy Fan embossed panel.

I'm glad that you stopped by!

October Thank You Tags

I love making tags, I don't know if it's their size, shape, or what it is, but I always have lots of ideas for making tags. This month's tags use the Floral Fusion sizzlits, which I've had forever, but haven't used very much...why? They're super cute and just the right size for tags!
I must remember these cute flowers for future projects!

Masked Gorgeous Grunge Thank You

CLICK ON LINKS BELOW TO VIEW:
...............................................
This is my first time using the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set. It's got a completely different feel to it than the flower stamp sets I love using, but I really liked creating with this set. It got me thinking outside my box a little bit. I coupled it with the Six-Sided Sampler...they just seem to go together.
I masked a rectangle and sponged Crisp Cantaloupe and Pistachio Pudding inside the masked rectangle. I'd seen this color combination while we were travelling a few weeks ago and wrote down the colors so that I wouldn't forget them, very pretty together, especially with the Midnight Muse.
I love all the backgrounds this stamp set has, especially the splatter marks. Should make for some fun looking cards in the future.

A Pinterest Inspired Thank You

CLICK ON LINKS BELOW TO VIEW:
...............................................
On Pinterest I have a color combination board which I used to create today's Thank You card. I love the soft hues of blues and pinks together, very pretty!
nature hues
One thing that is really hard for me to do is to stick with just one stamp set when I make cards. I try, but it's usually hit-and-miss and today's card was a miss, as far as one stamp set goes. In fact this card uses three stamp sets: Thank You Kindly, Flowering Flourishes, and Mixed Bunch. (When I post my card on Splitcoaststampers, which stamp set should I place it in? I'm thinking Flowering Flourishes.)
I love the Flowering Flourishes for backgrounds and thought it would make a great start for a soft and pretty card. The Fancy Fan and Delicate Designs embossing folders added a nice texture to the card.

Mosaic Christmas Ornaments

CLICK ON LINKS BELOW TO VIEW:
...............................................
Today's card uses the Mosaic punch to create a couple of ornaments for the card's embellishments. I originally made the card only red and white, but my husband said it needed some greenery, so I added Old Olives leaves from the Secret Garden framelit set. I think he was right, I like it a lot better with a touch of green.
I'd seen the cute cut-out bottom for the Modern Mosaic embossing folder on a card by Kerry Bunting and loved the look, so incorporated that idea into this card. I had a strip of the striped Season of Style DSP which fit perfectly in giving the card a festive look.
