Mixing Old With New

I've had these cute watercolor base cards for several years but just haven't ever used them...until now. I needed some quick and cute cards and voila, these bases came to rescue! I love the watercolor look and how great that they were already painted for me. I used the Garden Party stamp set and masking.

Little Scallops

A Happy Birthday CASE

If you were fortunate enough to earn one of this year's SAB Petal Parade stamp sets, then here's a fun and easy card design for you to use. I CASE'd this great card from Ilina Crouse. (Yes, I have been case'ing more than I used to, since I don't have as much time to sit down and design. When you're short on time and you need to make a card, there are some great card designs out there!)

I love celebrating birthdays with fun cards and this one definitely looks happy and festive and doesn't take much time to make.

Well, here's the last of the Six-Sided Sampler cards for now. The set also includes some really cute girly patterns and sentiments, so will have to try those out in the near future. I went with stripes for this card and yes, of course sequins.

These cards were fun to make. Coming up with 3 cards while staying with the same stamp sets and color scheme made it fun.

A Diagonal Father's Day

I have been enjoying playing around with two of the stamp sets from this year's catalog...Six-Sided Sampler and Tape It. Their geometric shapes make great masculine cards. I stuck with these two stamp sets and the same color scheme for all of my masculine cards. Since that part was already figured out, I was able to spend my time playing around with designing...the fun part!

 I've never used the color Summer Starfruit before I made these cards (I didn't think that I liked it, but I guess I do in certain cases?), but I think it worked well in this color scheme.

A Week of Masculine Cards

This week I'll be sharing some masculine themed cards since Father's Day is right around the corner. Today's card uses the Six-Sided Sampler, Tape It, and Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp sets. The color scheme is Soft Suede, Midnight Muse, Summer Starfruit, Coastal Cabana and Whisper White.

Yes, I'm stuck on the sequins thing right now, but I like the colored bling and the fact that since this card is very geometric, the little circled sequins fit right in with all the other shapes. I used the sentiment Happy Father's Day, but Happy Birthday could easily be swapped in to make this a masculine birthday card.

Grandson, Baseball and Birthday

My grandson, Jacob, just celebrated his "9th" birthday. Right now he loves baseball. He and his dad have been able to make it to a lot of the Diamondback games this season, so he knows all the players and all the baseball news.

I was going to give him one of the Build-A-Bear birthday cards from my card stash, but this year the bear thing just doesn't quite fit him, so I made him a "sports" card...sort of! This is a hybrid card since I used My Digital Studio to print the "Sunny Day" DSP and also the "#1 Champ" sentiment from the digital stamp set "Sporting". I do love this program...I say it everytime I use it, but it's true. I wanted my "#1 Champ" to fit inside a 1-3/4" circle punch, so I was able to make the #1 larger while shrinking the Champ (I love digital stamping). I rotated the Champ sentiment slightly upward, coloring the #1 in Tangerine Tango and the Champ in Pacific Point. After printing out my digital elements came punching: 1-3/4" circle punch - digital sentiment; 2" circle - Basic Gray. I snailed the digital sentiment onto the Basic Gray circle and used the Inlaid Embossing technique (See Video Tutorial) using the Big Shot and Square Lattice EB folder.

I did do some stamping using the Bring On the Cake stamp set, stamping the sentiment in Basic Black; I colored in the letters for "c-a-k-e" using Pacific Point and Tangerine Tango markers. The Tempting Turquoise DSP panel is 3x4, Tangerine Tango panel is 3-1/4x4-1/4, and the Basic Gray panel is 3-1/2x4-1/2.

Happy Birthday, Cinco De Mayo, and Anniversary

From Heidi...Quite a title, huh? May 5th is a busy day. The "Happy Birthday" is for Adriel...today is her birthday! "Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday, dear Adriel...Happy Birthday to you!!!"It's also Cinco De Mayo! We had a friend request a Cinco De Mayo/Anniversary card this week, which explains the anniversary heading. Here's a card I came up with for her. I used retired stampsets for the stamping and My Digital Studio for the sentiment. She requested that it be colorful and happy, so this was a fun challenge to create. I hope this card makes a bright spot in your day!

Another Flip Book Album

We have a fun class coming up next month creating a Flip Book Album, so I've been working on a prototype for it over the last few days. I didn't want to get bogged down with a lot of stamping, but I still wanted it to look fun and worth the time people would put into making it. So I turned to my computer and designed some graphic lines on my computer for the journaling. I also created several themed announcement pages, as we want to offer various themes for the books, like Birthday, Travels, Friends, etc. I then created words in various fonts, colors, and sizes that would fit within our punches. This took a bit of time, but now it's done and we can use these graphic templates over and over.
We're using punched flowers and corners...my husband came up with the cutest idea to use for the corners on this book. He took the 5-petal flower punch and punched 2 of the petals at a right angle. The petals make a fun photo corner.
I hope you enjoy a couple of pictures I took of the Flip Book. Using some of the retired DS paper we've had for awhile helped us use up most of our old In-Colors CS - Blue Bayou and Baja Breeze. The only stamping done on this album is the center of the Belly Band. Thanks again for looking :-)

Cards from Texas

Since I've been busy this week watching my grandchildren, I haven't had much time to stamp. I thought I'd share some cards from my stamping friend, Shirley, who moved to Texas. She's been selling her cards in a hand crafted store called Seller's Market in Kingsville, TX. Way to go, Shirley!

Same Layout-Last Birthday Card

From Heidi...Okay...Here's the last card I made using the same layout as the previous 2. Again, I used different DP, stampset and color scheme and it looks completely different from the other 2, except for the layout. This is a great way to make a bunch of cards to have on hand...spoken from someone who hasn't any cards on hand. But it IS a great idea and a goal I'll have to work towards.

Here's a birthday card for a change from our Valentine theme. This bright, cheery card is for my granddaughter's birthday and reflects her fun and bright personality. The decorative paper was from a paper package that she gave to me for my birthday... I'm sure she'll love that it's included on her card! Thanks for looking!
