Faux Leather Card

Here's one of the cards we made in our Heat Embossing class this month. This card features the Faux Leather technique, which I thought created a wonderful texture and rustic look. One of the things I loved about this month's cards is how unique everyone's cards turned out, especially on the Emboss Resist cards which I'll share later this week. 

This is a great technique to use if you're creating masculine or rustic type cards.

Supplies Used
Cardstock: Cajun Craze, Soft Suede, Not quite Navy, Crumb Cake, Very Vanillal

Punches: Corner rounder, Jewelry Tag, (1", 2", 2-1/2") circle punches, Crimper, hole punch

Stamp Set:  Tiny Tags, Circle Circus

Ink: Versamark, Not Quite Navy, Cajun Craze, Chocolate Chip

Big Shot: Finial Press Textured Impressions folder

Accessories: brad, Baker's twine, clear EB powder

Sweet & Simple Monday: Masculine Card

Today's Sweet & Simple tutorial is for a masculine birthday card. We all have those guys in our lives that need cards too, right? Sometimes just keeping the card simple and low-key without a bunch of fluff can be challenging. I like all that girly stuff! =)

Here's a card that is really simple, really easy and really sweet (even though it is for a guy)! Hope you enjoy! =)

1. Fold a piece of 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" Sahara Sand CS in half at 4-1/4". Use Sahara Sand ink and stamp image from Circle Circus in a random pattern several times on card front. Use Chocolate Chip ink pad and lay the ink pad directly on the card front edges. Do this several times in a random pattern all around edges.

2. Stamp a couple of the Circle Circus images in Taken w/ Teal and Chocolate Chip inks on Whisper White CS. Punch out these images with corresponding circle punches (varies with images).

3. Use Chocolate Chip and Taken w/ Teal Stampin' Write markers to ink up image from Birthday Bliss stamp set. Punch out with 1-1/2" circle punch.

4. Punch out:

- (1) 1" Taken w/ Teal CS circle (I punched mine out of an embossed piece of cardstock)

- (1) 1-3/8" Chocolate Chip circle

- (1) Taken w/ Teal Scallop Circle

5. Attach stamped and punched birthday sentiment to Taken w/ Teal scallop circle with SNAIL adhesive.

6. Use SNAIL adhesive to attach all the circles (except for the scalloped sentiment circle) to the front of the card in a random pattern, allowing some of the circles to go over the edge of the card. After attaching, trim edges of circles in line with the card front edges.

7. Attach the scallop sentiment circle to card front with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Supplies: Circle Circus stamp set, Birthday Bliss stamp set, Sahara Sand CS, Taken w/ Teal CS, Chocolate Chip CS, Whisper White CS, Chocolate Chip classic ink, Sahara Sand classic ink, Taken w/ Teal Stampin' Write marker, Chocolate Chip Stampin' Write marker, Scallop Circle punch, 1-1/2" circle punch, 1-3/8" circle punch, 1-1/4" circle punch, 1" circle punch, SNAIL adhesive, Stampin' Dimensionals.

Happy Birthday Plate Face

My Digital Studio Hybrd

From Heidi...Here's a set of 10 cards I created the other day for a friend whose mother died. In lieu of flowers, I thought that she could use these "thank you" cards instead. I used My Digital Studio for the flourish and sentiment "a note of thanks," and then created the dimensionaled embellishment using the stampset Circle Circus and the the Scallop Circle punch. I was able to create these 10 cards in 45 minutes! What a time saver and I love how they turned out. I printed the flourish in Old Olive and the sentiment in Chocolate Chip. The stamped Circle Circus is Ruby Red and the Scalloped Circle backgroudn is Chocolate Chip. Thanks for looking and I hope you all have a great weekend.I'm going to go trim some hedges out in the frontyard! The weather is so beautiful right now... I love it:-)

Enjoyable Class

We had a great time stamping with our stamping friends this past Thursday at our afternoon and evening classes. The response to our celebrate summer cards was very positive and our ladies enjoyed getting creative and making those "yummy" cards! It was fun and I enjoyed seeing everyone, especially some of those whom I hadn't seen for a couple of months. =)

We'll be seeing a lot of our ladies again this coming Tuesday for our special Stamp-a-Technique class where we will be doing brayering. I haven't done all that much with brayering, so this was fun to try something new and create for. Here's the card I will be teaching.

I used a circle template and brayered ink over the card stock and then stamped with a couple of the stamps from Circle Circus, along with some sponging. I don't usually stick to such a limited color combo, but it really worked nice for this card and I like the results. =)

Circle Happy

From Heidi...My son-in-law's BD is this week and I needed a card. I thought I'd use one that was already made, but when I went to Target to pick up a bag for his gift I felt compelled to make him a bright circle card. Adriel's response to ALL the circles was...Wow?! That's how I feel about it, as well. But when you see the card with the bag, you'll understand ALL the circles. If nothing else, it's bright, cheery and if you like circles there's plenty of them to look at :-) Thanks for visiting us. Have a great weekend!

Soft Suede Circle Circus

I'm still just playing around with some of the new SU stuff we bought. This is the new stamp set called "Circle Circus" that we pre-ordered and have been playing around with. The idea for this card came from Beth on SCS, you can view her card here: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1377683

I used the new In-Color Soft Suede and stamped with Versamark, Creamy Caramel and Close to Cocoa. The more I use the new In-Colors, I'm finding (at least for my preference) that they need some white to make them pop. I stamped one of the larger stamps several times in different colors, punching out pieces of them with varying sizes of circle punches. I used a Build-a-brad for the very center.
