Do you ever end up with card parts just lying around? I do, I have little pieces and parts that pop up every now and then. One of the pieces that has been lying around for awhile is the largest flower petal from the Blossoms Petal Builder punch. Everytime I saw this little piece I kept seeing it as the focal point of some kind of Art Nouveau'ish type card. As I googled Art Nouveau images, the colors and the card began to emerge.
So what is Art Nouvea? Here's Wikipedia's definition: A style of decorative art, architecture, and design prominent in western Europe and the US from about 1890 until World War I and characterized by intricate linear designs and flowing curves based on natural forms. (Hmmm...that sounded to me like the flowing curves on the Blossom piece I was thinking about.)
So what I actually did was repunch the largest Blossoms Petal in Shimmery White CS. I used one of the little wooden tools that come with SU's rub-ons, and placed my punched petal on a piece of cardboard to dry emboss some curves onto the petal. I used the Reinker Spread technique (click on this video for a quick how-to) to create the light and dark areas on the petal. The embossed lines acted as little reservoirs for the ink to flow down into...kind of cool. The Old Olive leaves are punched from the Blossoms Petal punch, as well. I folded them in half and ran each one through the crimper, sponging Soft Suede over the surface and edges of the leaves and large reinker blossom. What a great tool the Stampamajig was to accurately place the small Charming medallion stamp around the perimeter of the circle. The rest of the supplies I used to create my card are listed below. This card combines the combination of brand new colors from Stampin' Up! along with a special floral background using a die cut flower and sponging. The two-tone sponging adds depth to the flowers and the background created is beautiful in itself. A simple stamped and punched sentiment along with some elegant satin ribbon gives the finish that complements the beautiful masking. I was inspired by
Butterflies are very popular in crafts lately and they get incorporated into this lovely card. Butterfly die-cuts create a mask over the cardstock, which gets a spray of shimmer mist, creating a sparkly background to the sweet butterflies. Stamped images from Vintage Vogue complete the elegant look of this card.

For the masking on this card, what I did was cut out a few leaves using my Big Shot and the Little Leaves die cut out of computer paper. I adhered these leaves to my card front with temporary adhesive in the desired locations. Then I misted the card front with a shimmer mist mixture that I added a few drops of Old Olive reinker to. I guess you could call that Tinted Shimmer Mist! =) Let it dry for a minute or two and then remove the Little Leaves die cuts. From there I added a stamped sentiment from the Fresh Cuts stamp set, added some little flowers using the Itty Bitty Bits stamp set and Punch Pack and Melon Mambo ink, and finished the little scene with a few cute little butterflies using the Beautiful Wings embosslit die.

I broke out the Lattice die for the Big Shot that's been sitting in it's packaging for a few weeks... talk about instant wow! It's beautiful and easy to create with! Can't wait until our ladies get to try it out... they're going to love it!

My card size is 3-1/4" x 4-7/8", so a bit smaller than the normal 4-1/4" x 5-1/2". The colors I used for this card are: Sahara Sand, Bordering Blue, Not Quite Navy, and Very Vanilla. I used the Very Vintage wheel on the background of the card and the center oval is stamped with images from the Vintage Vogue stamp set. The sentiment is from the Vintage Labels sale-a-bration set.

And last, but not least this week, is this sweet card from

This card she made is so beautiful! She used such soft colors and the style is so elegant! I'm designing one of our SAS cards for March after this card, I like it so much! =)
They're basically the same card with a different printed paper and the cardstock on the scallop circles reversed. Simple design, a lot of Big Shot-ing and pretty DS paper! BTW, that's the same DSP that I used on
